What Is Military Time?
Military time uses a 24-hour clock, running from 0000 (midnight) to 2359. It eliminates AM/PM ambiguity and is used by the military, hospitals, aviation, and emergency services.
How do I convert military time to regular time?
For hours 00-11, the time is AM (00 = 12 AM midnight, 01-11 = 1-11 AM). For hours 12-23, subtract 12 to get the PM hour (12 = 12 PM noon, 13 = 1 PM, and so on). Minutes stay the same. For example, 1430 = 2:30 PM.
What is midnight in military time?
Midnight is 0000 (zero hundred hours) in military time. Some organizations use 2400 to denote the end of a day, but 0000 is the standard start-of-day notation.
Who uses military time?
Military time (24-hour clock) is used by the armed forces, hospitals, emergency services, aviation, railways, and most countries outside the US. It eliminates the ambiguity of AM/PM, which is critical in fields where miscommunication can be dangerous.
